Dear visitors to the „Dresden Pow Wow“ 2006,
There is a saying that all good things come in threes. The “Dresden Pow Wow” has now also reached this magic number. A good sign - and a sign of the success of the event!
The demand is growing from year to year, and with it an ever broader reputation. This is in itself reason enough to congratulate the initiators and sponsors of the event. The courageous step of a few committed entrepreneurs has developed into an internationally acclaimed event, and is thus a good example for the potential which the tourism branch in Saxony possesses.
The fact that the third “Dresden Pow Wow” is taking place during the Saxon capital’s 800-year jubilee year is a particularly fortunate coincidence. But why, especially in a year so studded with highlights, is the “Dresden Pow Wow” putting out feelers into the wider region? Some people might well ask: Why are we not keeping everything in Dresden? Well - what would the capital city be without its region, and what would the region be without its capital?
The two are the different facts of a single coin, and when the “Dresden Pow Wow” places its spotlight on this close and fruitful relationship, this can only be of benefit to both sides.
I hope you will get to know as much as possible of Saxony, as a frame for the Dresden city jubilee. You will soon notice that the close links between the region and its capital represent an ideal prerequisite for the successful development of the Free State of Saxony. With this in mind, there are many good reasons to come to Saxony - both this year and in the future.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers, their partners from business and culture, and indeed all those who are helping to make the third “Dresden Pow Wow” the event it is.
I am already looking forward to many interesting meetings and encounters, and wish you every success at the “Dresden Pow Wow” 2006.
Thomas Jurk
